Welcome to De Hut Olive Farm & Nursery
De Hut Olive Farm and Nursery is nestled on the Breede River in the beautiful valley of Scherpenheuwel (a valley few have yet discovered), between Worcester and Robertson in the Western Cape.
De Hut has 9 hectares of trees and as such is not commercially viable for producing its own oil and table olives, the crop is bought by the award-winning olive oil producer, Rio Largo.
De Hut Riverside Cabin
The De Hut riverside cabin is available if you would like to visit the nursery and stay to enjoy the river and this undiscovered area. The cabin is self-catering and accommodates up to 4 people.
To book, please contact Trevor Rayson on +27 82 774 2200 or Liam Smithers on +27 72 457 2005 or email email@example.com.
The farm was established by a keen fisherman who had bought 300 metres of river frontage to satisfy his hobby. The river frontage came with 13 hectares of virgin land that were developed solely for olive cultivation and are now producing some of the finest olives in the Cape.
De Hut was one of the first farms in the area to cultivate and propagate olives and has supplied trees to olive growers throughout the Western Cape, Gauteng and Botswana.
Local farms primarily produce vines and fruit for export and local markets, but most are now also cultivating olives as this valley has the right climate and soil to produce top quality crops.
