De Hut Olive Farm and Nursery is nestled on the Breede River in the beautiful valley of Scherpenheuwel (a valley few have yet discovered), between Worcester and Robertson in the Western Cape. De Hut only has 9 hectares of trees and as such is not commercially viable for producing its own oil and table olives, the crop is bought by the award-winning olive oil producer, Willow Creek. Our trees are tended with care and used to propogate.

The farm was established by a keen fisherman who had bought 300 metres of river frontage to satisfy his hobby. The river frontage came with 13 hectares of virgin land that were developed solely for olive cultivation and are now producing some of the finest olives in the Cape. De Hut was one of the first farms in the area to cultivate and propogate olives and has supplied most of the trees to Rio Largo, as well as many other farms in the area. Local farms mostly produce vines and fruit for export and local markets, but most are now also cultivating olives as this valley has the right climate and soil to produce top quality crops.
